Additional information
A minimum of 2 participants is required for these experiences.
Any dish that is part of the menu can be changed if it is not possible to supply seasonal and local quality ingredients, especially in the case of using fresh fruits and vegetables. In these cases they will be replaced by alternatives that harmoniously integrate the concept of each menu.
Each group of customers, on a specific day and time, will be served the same dishes from one of the menus on offer to all members of the group. If the group integrates some elements with specific food allergies or intolerances, adapted dishes will be developed for these elements, inspired by the global concept of the group’s menu.
Each person is served a 0.37 l wine jug, equivalent to about two glasses of wine, to accompany the meal. The proposed wine that accompanies the meal, when other than the local Vinho Verde (green wine), can always be exchanged for this one, if desired.
In case of bad weather, lunch will be served in the beautiful farm’s kitchen.
The wine regions that we present in this program
Vinho Verde (green wine) from the Minho region
The Minho region, located near the Atlantic Ocean, in the extreme north of the country, produces a unique wine in the world: Vinho Verde. It has a fruity aroma, is easy to drink, has a low alcohol content, is pleasant as an aperitif or paired with light meals or with some fat. The soil of the region is formed largely by granite and the climate is extremely pleasant. Anyone who sets out to discover the region will feel that it is the kingdom of the aromatic loureiro variety and the birthplace of the queen alvarinho variety.
Red and white wines from Douro and Trás-os-Montes
Douro red wines are produced from grape varieties such as touriga-nacional, touriga-franca, tinto-roriz, tinto-barroca and tinto-cão. They have an unparalleled complexity and richness and a good persistent structure and body. These are wines for red meat. The white wines are made from blends of malvasia-fina, viosinho, gouveio or rabigato, they show mineral, floral and fruity aromas, and are a good accompaniment to large fish. The local climate, with extreme cold and heat, the soil, irrigation and ancient production techniques have a direct influence on the aromas and intensity of local wines in this region bathed by the Douro River.
Red wines from Terras do Dão
The most important wine variety in the Dão region is Touriga Nacional, a red grape that results in wines with very strong tannins and a high concentration of alcohol. These wines usually have characteristics such as great aging potential, complex flavors and accentuated acidity.
Red wines from the Tejo region
The most planted red varieties in the Tejo region are Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Castelão, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Aragonês. From a historical point of view, red wines from the Tejo have always been associated with the exclusive use of national grape varieties. However, these days, one of the most striking features of these wines is the fact that they combine international and national varieties in their production.
Red wines from Alentejo
Located in the south of the country, in a region with a mild climate and little rainfall, Alentejo produces well-structured red wines, full-bodied and very aromatic, produced with Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Alfrocheiro, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes.
